ETHICS AND INTEGRITY IN WATER MANAGEMENT

 

Last February 7th, the consultant Dr. Francesc Bellaubi took part in the Seminars on Environmental Ethics with the conference "Ethics and Integrity in Water Management", in which he presented studies in Africa and South America (Read more) (Read more).

 

SUSTAINABILITY IN UNIVERSITY TEACHING

 

On November 27th, Professor Gala Arias participated in the Seminars on Environmental Ethics, with the conference "Sustainability as a transversal subject in university teaching: possible approaches" (Read more).

 

SUMMER COURSE 2018

The 2018 edition of our summer course was entitled "Challenges to promote responsible consumption" and took place in "Ávila 1.131 Active Observatory". It was held between the 27th and the 29th of June. On this occasion, Design Thinking methodologies were used to solve challenges in the promotion of responsible consumption. Read more.

 

"COMMUNITY TOURISM AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT"

On November 30th 2017, we had the participation of Professor Edson Vicente Da Silva (Department of Geography, Federal University of Ceará, Brazil) in the Lecture Series on Environmental Ethics. In his conference, entitled "Community Tourism and Local Development", the speaker analyzed the peculiarities of tourism developments that occur in isolated areas with indigenous communities. "VALUES AND COMMITMENTS IN ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION" - 1st SPANISH CONFERENCE OF ECOETICS

The Chair of Environmental Ethics "Fundación Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno-Universidad de Alcalá" organized the 1st Spanish Conference of Environmental Ethics. The conference wanted to promote reflection on the values and motivations of environmental conservation and the commitments that they bring, in the management of companies and administrations, as well as in the individual consumer habits.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The conference was open to all professionals interested in the central themes of the event, including humanistic, social as well as biophysical disciplines. It was held at the University of Alcalá, on October 19th and 20th, 2017. The conference was organized in collaboration with the XI Congress of the Spanish Association of Bioethics and Medical Ethics, sharing the second day of the event (Summary of de Conference) (Conference website)

In this way spoke Eduardo De Miguel (Director of the Global Nature Foundation), on February 7 at the lecture "Ethical Aspects and Social Responsibility in the activities of Ecologist NGOs: Global Nature Foundation", within the Cycle of Seminars on Environmental Ethics. More information.

 

THE SUSTAINABILITY OF INFRASTRUCTURES: KEY TO OUR FUTURE

Last December 20th we had the opportunity to listen to Cristina Contreras, from the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructures (Harvard University), whose mission is to develop and promote methods, processes and tools that quantify the sustainability of construction projects of any type of infrastructure. Its objective is to facilitate sustainable solutions for projects and to expand knowledge about what sustainable infrastructure should be. Read more.

PUBLICATION IN NATURE ON THE TORRECIUDAD DECLARATION

The journal Nature has published a communication on the Declaration of Torreciudad, about the collaboration between science and religion for the conservation of the environment. More information.

The article "Impacts of Religious Beliefs on Environmental Indicators" has recently been published in the WorldViews magazine, based on research conducted by this chair.

INTERNATION SCIENTIST AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS WORKING TOGHETHER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

On June 20 and 21 took place the International Seminar on Science and Religion cooperation for Environmental Care (ISSREC), organized by the Environmental Ethics Chair "Tatiana Perez de Guzman el Bueno Foundation-Universidad de Alcalá" and the “Foundation Social Promotion of Culture”, in which international scientists and leaders of the major religions met to discuss the conservation of the planet.

The seminar was held at the Catholic Shrine of Torreciudad (Huesca), and discussed the Laudato Si ', in the first anniversary of its publication. More information.

THE MORAL CONSIDERATION OF ANIMALS: FUNDAMENTALS AND CONFLICTS WITH ENVIRONMENTAL ETHICS

PRESENTATION OF RESEARCH REPORT

 

Next March 15th will take place the presentation of the report "Calculation and labeling of carbon footprint of food products", prepared from a research project promoted from this Chair. The event will be held at 10:00 h. in the headquarters of the Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno Foundation, in Paseo del General Martínez Campos, 25, in Madrid (Download poster).

 
CO2LABEL OPERATING GROUP

 

The Chair of Environmental Ethics "Fundación Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno - University of Alcalá" has participated in the creation of the CO2LABEL Operative Group, whose main objective is to promote the reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases in the agri-food sector and the improvement of its competitiveness through the use of eco-labels. PARTICIPATION IN THE VI BRAZILIAN CONGRESS OF APPLIED ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND TERRITORIAL MANAGEMENT

 

The chair of environmental ethics participated in the VI Brazilian Congress of Applied Environmental Education and Territorial Management, which took place from September 26th to 29th, 2018, at the Federal University of Amapá (Macapá, Brazil). More information.

 
 

PUBLICATION OF AN ARTICLE IN THE JOURNAL OF CLEANER PRODUCTION

Recently, the article "Factors affecting environmental sustainability habits of university students: Intercomparison analysis in three countries (Spain, Brazil and UAE)" was published in the Journal of Cleaner Production. The publication includes an analysis of the consumption habits of students from Spain, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates.

 
PUBLICATION OF AN ARTICLE IN THE SPANISH GEOGRAPHY ASSOCIATION BULLETIN

 

The article "Do textbooks respond to the demands of environmental education? An analysis for secondary education" has been published in number 77 of the Bulletin of the Association of Spanish Geographers. The publication includes the results of a project promoted from this chair.

 
 
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF FOOD

 

On December 12, the Scientific-Technical Seminar on 'Indicators of environmental impacts of food products' was held, co-organized by the Botín Foundation's Water Observatory and the Chair of Environmental Ethics "Fundación Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno-University of Alcalá". Read more.

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON SCIENCE, RELIGION AND ENVIRONMENT

 

Between June 20th and 21th 2016 we held the seminar "Rethinking Laudato si': International seminar on Science and Religion cooperation for Environmental Care (ISSREC)", with the participation of international scientists and religious leaders who addressed the current relationship between humans and nature, as well as between science and religion, to tackle the major environmental and climate challenges of our time.
